Family has always been at the center of Emma and Mitch Jennings’ world.
Kansas City natives, Emma and Mitch are surrounded by a big, lively family that includes five nieces, two nephews, and one very loved pup named Murph. Family gatherings are rarely quiet, and that is exactly how they like them. Their days together are filled with games, laughter, conversation, and the kind of joyful chaos that comes from having plenty of people you love gathered in one place.
For Emma and Mitch, the dream of growing their own family has always felt like a natural extension of that life.
When the Journey Takes a Different Road
Mitch was born with a condition in which his internal organs are positioned as a mirror image of what is typical. Because of complications related to his condition, having biological children has been difficult for Emma and Mitch.
They pursued IVF, hoping it would provide the path they had been searching for. Unfortunately, their treatments were unsuccessful.
It was another difficult chapter in a journey that had already asked them to adjust expectations and imagine their future differently.
But sometimes the route to family changes without changing the dream itself.
Eventually, Emma and Mitch began talking seriously about adoption. And once they made that decision, they were ready to move forward.
From Decision to Waiting Family
Emma and Mitch partnered with Adoption & Beyond and entered the agency’s local infant adoption program.
Then came the paperwork. And the paperwork after the paperwork. ☕️
Applications were completed. Background checks were finished. Their home study was completed.
And now?
Emma and Mitch are officially an active waiting family, hoping for the match that will change their lives.
It is an exciting place to be, but also one filled with uncertainty. There is no calendar date circled for when the call will come. No countdown clock. Just preparation, hope, and the knowledge that somewhere along the way, their story may intersect with another family's in a way none of them can predict.
Making Room for a Little More Chaos
One thing is certain: when that day comes, this baby will be joining a family that already knows how to love BIG.
There will be cousins ready to play.
Aunts and uncles ready to spoil.
Grandparents and extended family ready to celebrate.
A pup named Murph who may have some opinions about the new household hierarchy. 🐾
And, right at the center of it all, Emma and Mitch.
They cannot wait to add just a little more fun and chaos to their already bustling family, along with a whole lot more love and laughter to share with the child they are lucky enough to be matched with.
